Peruvian tenor, born in Lima, with a remarkable career, both nationally and internationally. He has interpreted the most important parts for lyrical tenor and spinto with great success (G. Verdi: Manrico/Il Trovatore, Il Ducca/Rigoletto; G. Puccini: Pinkerton/Madama Butterfly, Cavaradossi/Tosca; P. Mascagni: Turiddu/Cavalleria rusticana; R. Leoncavallo: Canio/I Pagliacci; G. Donzetti: Edgardo/Lucia di Lammermoor; etc.)
He has studied with Elvirita Gayani de Calcagno, Paquita Cendra, Manuel Cuadros, Juan La Madrid, Andres Santamarķa and Gabriele Settembrini in Peru; and with David Jones, Dan Marek and Giovanni Consiglio in New York. Later, he was lucky by having the opportunity to study with the famous Alfredo Kraus in Spain (which led to his professional debut). He also has been coached by the renowned Claude Heater, North-American hero tenor who worked on the historical film "Ben Hur, among other successful productions. In most of his roles John Schofield has worked with the stage director Constantino Juri (recently passed away regisseur, also stage director to many Alfredo Kraus operas). In Vienna he perfected himself with chamber singer Olivera Miljakovic.
In May 2018 he sang a recital in Vienna's "Beethovensaal" with the pianist Walter Bass with great success and shortly afterwards another recital in the music salon "Island of the heart" of Olivera Miljakovic, (dedicated to the cultural relationship Peru - Austria).
In March 2019 he sang recitals in Vienna in the "Altes Rathaus" and in Bratislava in the Primatial Palace (with the famous Polish soprano Katarzyna Holysz), both dedicated to the relationship Peru - Austria and Peru - Slovakia; also in Vienna with the well-known Chilean soprano Cecilia Frigerio. Shortly after his performances in Vienna he gave a recital at the "Auditorio Galileo" in Madrid, accompanied by the pianist Laurence Verna, organized by the Peruvian embassy in Spain.
During the Corona-lockdown he gave several cyber recitals in Lima with the motto "Lirica Para Ti", organized by "Cultura Miraflores" (Municipalidad Distrital de Miraflores) with the pianists R. La Rosa and R. Prieto. On July 29, 2020, he had the honor to sing the Peruvian national anthem at the National Day Parade, accompanied by the orchestra of the Presidential Guard (Reg. Cav. EP. "Msl. Domingo Nieto"). In the following year 2021 he gave a concert with the same orchestra on the occasion of the farewell to the Peruvian president (He has been the main soloist of the Peruvian military orchestra since 2020).
In October 2021 John Schofield sang a recital in Vienna at the "Kaisersaal" (piano accomp. Y. Katori) reopening his presential recitals.
Recently in 2022 he sang a recital in Lima, Peru on April 19th at Aud. "J. R. Ribeyro" (R. Prieto piano), then again in Vienna at the "Kaisersaal" (May 4th, W. Bass, piano) and in Stockholm, Sweden (May 7th, Historiska Musset aud, (N. Kolecka, mezzo, and D. Zarowiecka, piano).
At that same year, in October, he will sing at the "Palacio Fonteira" in Lisboa, Portugal and in Vienna, Austria.
